Ms. Moya Blair, Preschool

Ms. Blair grew up in the Seattle area, attending St. John School and Seattle Preparatory School.  She graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. in Recreation and Leisure Studies.  She has an Early Childhood certificate, specializing in Montessori, from the University of Puget Sound.  Ms. Blair has three children.  In her spare time Ms. Blair enjoys recreating on Whidbey Island with family and friends.  She has been our Preschool teacher since starting the program in 2000.

Ms. Jennifer Blankenship, Kindergarten

Ms. Blankenship was born and raised in Seattle.  She has been a parishioner at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle since the age of three.  She graduated from Linfield College in 1992 with a BA degree in Early Childhood Education.  She continued her education at Western Washington University as a post baccalaureate student, earning her K-8 teaching certificate in December 1993.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and walking dogs at the Seattle Animal Shelter as well as her own two dogs, Lucy and Ethel.  

Ms. Kathleen Keegan-Boes, First Grade

Ms. Keegan is a graduate of St. Joseph School, Holy Names Academy, and the University of Portland.

Ms. Tricia Cintron, Second Grade

Ms. Cintron has been a long-time member of St. Benedict Parish in Wallingford, where she taught confirmation classes.  She is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she is still enrolled as a graduate student in reading instruction. 

Mrs. Andrea Connell, Third/Fourth Grade East

Mrs. Sherry Weber, Third/Fourth Grade East

Sherry Weber is a Seattle native and attended St. Anne School and Seattle Preparatory School.  She graduated from University of Washington with a B.A. in Psychology, earned her teaching certificate at Seattle Pacific University and recently finished a Master's degree in School Counseling at Seattle University.  Mrs. Weber worked at St. Therese School in Seattle for 6 years, having taught third grade for 5 of those years.  She has been working with children since 1992.  Mrs. Weber is married and has two children.  She enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, reading, watching Seattle sports teams and spending time with her family and friends.  

Mrs. Stephanie Schmutz, Third/Fourth Grade West

 

Mrs. Mary Johnson, 5th and 6th Grade Girls

Mrs. Johnson moved to Seattle from the Midwest when she was fourteen.  She graduated from Blanchet and earned her degree in English and her teaching certificate from Seattle University.  Her first teaching job was fifth grade at Our Lady of the Lake School.  She earned her MA in learning disabilities from the University of Washington.  For sixteen years she taught at Meridian Park School at Seattle Learning Center, a school for children with learning disabilities that she and a friend started.  Mrs. Johnson has been teaching at St. Alphonsus for over 15 years.  Her own children, Emily and Will, graduated from St. Al’s and from Bishop Blanchet High School.

Mr. John Anderson, 5th and 6th Grade Boys

Before joining the St. Al’s community in 2000 Mr. Anderson taught high school science in Cle Elum, Washington, for twenty-two years.  Mr. Anderson also has coaching experience in cross country and track and field.  He attended Washington State University (BS in biology) and Central Washington University (MEd Master Teacher) after a four year tour in the United States Navy.  Mr. Anderson and his wife, Mary, have four children.  Mr. Anderson enjoys hiking and backpacking, reading, coaching, wood-working, and gardening.

Mrs. Barbara Pollock, 7th and 8th Grade Girls

Mrs. Pollack is a Seattle native.  She grew up in the Greenwood area and is a graduate of St. John School and Holy Names Academy.  She received both her BA in Liberal Arts and her Master in Teaching from the University of Washington.  She is active in Girl Scouting and enjoys camping and travel.  Her hobbies include reading, gardening, art, photography, and an interest in almost all sports.

Mr. Brent Stinebrickner, 7th and 8th Grade Boys

Mr. Stinebrickner has been teaching at St. Alphonsus for over 15 years.  Previously he spent time teaching in Oregon, Jamaica, and in New Mexico on the Jicarilla Apache and the Navajo Reservations.  At St. Alphonsus, he has taught 4th and 1st grades in addition to middle school.

Mrs. Susan Ozubko, Art

Mrs. Ozubko moved to Seattle in 1981 from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  She graduated with an Art Education Degree and is currently working on her masters degree.  Her husband is a professor of design, and they have one daughter.  Mrs. Ozubko believes we must inspire students to value their creativity and intuition.  She is excited to be part of an education community which teaches Catholic values that are emphasized and practiced.  Mrs. Ozubko enjoys running, skiing, and traveling with her family.

Mrs. Charleen Sweet, Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Sweet is our school administrator.  The Sweet family have been parishioners for over sixteen years.  Mrs. Sweet is a graduate of St. Alphonsus School.  She also graduated from Seattle Preparatory School and Seattle University.  She spent several years in the U.S. Army flying helicopters.  Mrs. Sweet and her husband, Bob, have three daughters.  Mrs. Sweet’s hobbies include scrapbooking, stamping, gardening, reading, and traveling with her family.  

Sister Miriam James, Extended Care Director

Sister Miriam James grew up in southwest Washington after her family's move from Texas.  She graduated from Woodland High School and from the University of Nevada-Reno, where she earned a BA in Speech Communications.  After graduating from college, Sr. Miriam heard God call her to become a nun and she spent time studying in New Mexico and Rome, Italy.  She was then assigned to an Indian reservation in North Dakota, where she coached volleyball at a high school and served St. Louis Parish in Dunseith.  In June of 2004, Sr. Miriam was assigned to St. Alphonsus Parish and is extremely happy to be at the school serving the children and is also excited to be back in Washington (thanks be to God! a true miracle!).  Sr Miriam enjoys spending time with God, reading, web site work and playing volleyball when she can!

Mrs. Gail Altenhofen, Hot Lunch Coordinator

The Altenhofens are long time parishioners, and all five of the Altenhofen children have attended St. Alphonsus.  Mrs. Altenhofen is our hot lunch coordinator.
